Finding headphones you like is really important. Just be careful they dont hype up the sound to much. The last time i went to AES i had tried some Senhieser headphones and couldn't believe had delicious and creamy they sounded. Its crucial to find something that will give you the best overall sound and allow your mixes to translate to everything. Try mixing with your IPOD earbuds. That would be awful right? But more then half of the time people are going to hear the music it i will be through those $20 white ear buds. Thanks for the comments and feedback so far.

Excellent tips. The mixdown and mastering are like the most important part of the record making process. And also the hardest part. Needs a well trained or blessed ear. I actually find listening in some Bose headphones is better than the open air. But that's me.
